After a few false starts, we now have the plans in place for the Poker Run! The destination and we will now end with a visit to the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra. The museum is one of the few places that have one of the famous RAAF F111 on display as well as a wide variety of over 80 other aircraft, aeroengines and artefacts on display.
The run will depart from The Coffee Club – Marketplace Warner, Shop 41, 355 Samsonvale Road, at 9:00am. Members are of course welcome to arrive early and enjoy breakfast before we start. The planned route will take us out through Dayboro, over Mt Mee and onto Woodford. We will then travel through to Peachester & Beerwah before rejoining Steve Irwin Way and travelling through Landsborough and onto Caloundra. Each vehicle will be given two Poker cards at the start of the Run. There will then be a stop along the route marked by a club member with a HSV Club Flag. Members will collect the next two Poker hand cards at this stop. The final poker hand card will be collected on arrival at the museum. There will also be a prize for the winner.
We will be parking as a club within the grounds of the museum and having light lunch and refreshments which will be supplied. The cost of the lunch, refreshments and museum entry is $35 per adult, 28 per child.
The museum also has a Boeing 737 Simulator and have offered the club 3 single person sessions – 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm. The Simulator cost is $119, and a certificate of completion is issued at the end of the session. There is also local helicopter operator that works with the museum and is willing to conduct local scenic flights for members at the discounted rate of $99 per person (minim two passengers per flight.) this is a great way to see the sunshine coast. If you wish to book any of these additional experiences on offer to the club, please let Matt know ASAP.
To ensure catering arrangements can be made, members wishing to participate in the day need to confirm attendance by Thursday 19th of October.
